Dr. Juli Potter, DVM, CCRT

Veterinarian

Dr. Juli Potter is a dedicated professional with over 25 years of experience in medicine and other veterinary-related fields. Her journey through this challenging and rewarding profession has been marked by a commitment to animal welfare, a passion for physical rehabilitation, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Dr. Juli's path in veterinary medicine has been a continuous exploration of finding her place in the profession. Currently, she serves as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) at TenderCare Veterinary Center. 

Dr. Juli's exceptional career includes serving as a Captain in the United States Army Veterinary Corps where she was instrumental in improving the health and welfare of military working dogs as well as homeless pets. Her commendable efforts included initiating a spay/neuter program at the Veterinary Treatment facility, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and aiding military dependents and their pets during times of conflict, earing her the Army Commendation Medal in 1998. Following the Army, Dr. Juli spent two years working alongside a board-certified veterinary behaviorist and then started a behavior-only referral practice in Salt Lake City, Utah.

While in general practice, Dr. Juli witnessed numerous dogs suffering from crippling pain and arthritis, this ignited her determination to find better ways to address these issues beyond conventional pain medication. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) in 2016. Dr. Juli has dedicated herself to identifying early signs of pain and dysfunction in animals, including understanding the importance of early detection, and understanding how physical characteristics can contribute to musculoskeletal disease. Her ultimate goal is to slow down and to potentially prevent the progression of disease and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Juli is currently a student in the online Master of Agricultural and Life Sciences (OMALS) program at VA Tech, with a concentration in applied animal behavior and welfare; combining her interests in behavior and physical rehabilitation in her continued attempts to improve the overall health and welfare of animals.

Dr. Juli's interests and passions extend beyond the veterinary field. When she's not working, she enjoys exploring with her son, playing with her dogs, participating in equine assisted activities, running, hiking, dancing to great music, reading, and basking in the sun by the water. Dr. Juli is also on the board of directors of Ride with Pride, a therapeutic horsemanship program in Staunton, VA.
